April's latest & an LGBT add
I mentioned this last week, but got so distracted that I didn't follow through and add it to The Big Blogroll (anyone sensing a theme here?).
Anyway, here it is, belated but beloved: Sangaree Connection, a community blog to which April of Once Upon A Time has devoted much time and skill. My spidey sense is tingling on this one, because I suspect that community blogs (or their equivalent) will become ubiquitous in our lifetimes. They just make a lot of sense.
Next up, a self-referral from Nicholas Shalosky, a student at C of C. Here's his blog, OUTloud in South Carolina, self-described:
My blog is focused on all issues concerning Politics of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) Community of South Carolina. It discusses current events that pertain to the progressive movement of Southern Gay Politics.
Let me point out something important about Shalosky's blog: He's not just chewing on recycled news media material -- he's going to political events and filing his own reports. For instance, Shalosky attended a meeting of the Waccamaw Republican Club that was being headlined by Sen. John McCain, R-AZ, and wrote about what he saw and heard.
Earl Capps does this sometimes, too, and I think this kind of citizen participation is increasingly valuable. It's not always the kind of thing that traditional journalists would do, but what would be the point of bloggers only doing the things the mainstream way? We've already got an entire industry churning out stuff in that same generically identifiable voice. </rant>
Anyway, to quote the immortal Kurt Vonnegut Jr: "Welcome to the monkey house." We're glad to have you.

I just wanted to thank you for posting my link and hope everyone who reads my blog enjoys reading it and learns a little something about our struggle.
