When we launched Friday 5 in March, The Post and Courier's home on the Web was in transition from an old software platform to a modern content-management system, and the old system simply couldn't handle a section that integrated images AND text. As a temporary solution, I put Friday 5 on this blog, and I've been manually putting posting the weekly Top 5 here ever since.
Parts of the new Charleston.net began appearing on the Web in May, though implementing all of the tools we purchased in 2006 remains an ongoing task. Friday 5 was not included in the "soft launch" of the new site, but our new software made it possible to present the section in a coherent fashion. Since then we've been waiting for the Charleston.net staff to get around to Friday 5 and Fun & Games on their development calendar.
Charleston.net has yet to add navigational links to Friday 5 (and Fun & Games remains in limbo), but I found out last week that a Charleston.net employee has been quietly adding Friday 5 content to the website for weeks now. So rather than continue to post that content here, I'm going to steer you toward the content there (which is where it belongs).
You can read this week's Top 5 on this link to Charleston.net. Thank you for reading, and thank you for bearing with us while we go through this transition.
