Ted and Susan Simonetta pulled up to the Green Wave cafeteria twice, saw the long lines and left. On their third pass they figured they might as well get out and vote.
Voting took longer than usual, but Ted Simonetta didn’t mind the wait.
“People actually care for a change,” he said.
It was the first time either Simonetta had to wait more than 15 minutes to vote.
One of the new faces was 56-year-old Virginia Grant, of Summerville, who voted for the first time in her life Tuesday.
“Something just told me to vote,” she said.
